THE THINKING BEHIND THE DESIGN

Make the next step
easier to take.

A website can support trust and make contact easier. It cannot guarantee customers. Here are three research findings, with their dates and context.

Good reviews often lead to a website visit.

In BrightLocal’s 2026 survey of 1,002 US adults, 54% selected visiting a business’s website among the actions they were likely to take after positive reviews. Respondents could select more than one action. These are reported intentions, not measured visits, and they do not quantify customers lost to an outdated website.

A first impression can take just 50 milliseconds.

In research published in 2012, participants rated the visual appeal of website screenshots after exposures as brief as 17–50 milliseconds. Simple layouts that felt familiar for their category received more favorable aesthetic judgments. The study measured visual appeal, not purchases, business trust or how long someone stays on a live site.

Our design takeaway: give each page a clear visual hierarchy and familiar navigation. A modern website should make your business easier to understand at a glance.

Mobile speed was linked with higher retail conversion.

The 2020 Milliseconds Make Millions study, conducted by Deloitte and 55 for Google, reported an 8.4% increase in retail conversion rates alongside a 0.1-second improvement across four speed metrics throughout the customer journey. This was a relative increase, not 8.4 percentage points.

The wider study covered 37 European and American brand websites and more than 30 million sessions, monitored for 30 days in late 2019. No UX redesigns occurred during that period. The retail result is not a forecast for your business, and a new visual design alone does not establish a speed or sales improvement.

Our development takeaway: optimize images, check mobile loading and keep effects lightweight. We measure the working website after development.

What we check on your actual site

We look for specific friction: text that’s hard to read, contact details that are difficult to find, broken links, awkward mobile layouts or photographs that don’t show the work clearly. Each finding should have a source, a screenshot and a check of the proposed fix.

Speed comparisons use comparable test conditions and the median of three runs. Phone-button clicks are reported as clicks, not completed calls. No analytics means no invented loss estimate.

What we never claim

We won’t say you are losing a specific number of customers, invent a percentage increase or promise search rankings. Traffic, reputation, your offer and how you handle inquiries all matter.
